The reporter of the Working Group for Palestinians in Syria reported that the majority of Palestinian children have been removed from the smart card, which was introduced by the Syrian authorities for citizens to obtain bread, domestic gas, heating diesel, and food supplies such as rice and sugar.
Our reporter explained that the removal of Palestinian children with IDs from the smart card is due to a lack of identity data. He added that families can reinstate their children by visiting one of the smart card centers and presenting a family statement and the ID of the person who was removed from the card.
A presidential decree had been issued to treat Palestinian children under the age of fifteen like Syrian children in terms of their access to bread and other subsidized food items, and their benefit from the smart card services, after years of depriving thousands of Palestinian children under the age of fifteen from the card services provided by the Syrian authorities.
Palestinian refugees in Syria are facing difficult living conditions due to the deteriorating economic situation, widespread unemployment, and the insufficiency of aid provided to them, especially for the displaced, where rent prices are high, amidst the absence of reconstruction and repair projects for their homes that were destroyed by the war.
