The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has begun conducting a survey in all its areas of operation to collect classified data to assess the immediate needs of newly arrived Palestinian refugees displaced from Lebanon.Until October 27 ,733 heads of households, representing approximately 2,197 inpiduals, participated in the survey. The results showed that 77% of the participants were women and children, while the percentage of persons with disabilities was 1% of the total participants.

The survey results indicate that the majority of displaced persons from Lebanon are currently residing with their extended families or friends in overcrowded conditions, and they face challenges in meeting their basic needs. Among these refugees, it was found that 56% of them were living in Syria before leaving during the crisis, and 94% of them confirmed that the deterioration of the security situation in Lebanon was the main reason behind their decision to return to Syria.

About 90% of the returning families reported that they returned to Syria with all their family members, and around 80% of them returned to their original areas where they lived before leaving Syria. These displaced inpiduals face significant challenges in securing sustainable livelihoods, necessitating financial support to ensure their housing and basic needs. Many of them also expressed their need for support to repair their damaged homes.

The number of displaced persons from Lebanon to Syria is estimated at around 440,000 people, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.Until October 27 ,

904 displaced Palestinian families, representing approximately 4,500 inpiduals, have contacted UNRWA offices in Syria, and it is believed that the actual number of Palestinian families that crossed the border may be higher
