Aleppo – Action Group
The house of Palestinian refugee "Mahmoud Mi'ari," located near the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Nairab Palestinian refugee camp in Aleppo, was robbed in broad daylight, with gold jewelry worth approximately one hundred million Syrian pounds stolen.
According to the Action Group's reporter, the theft occurred at noon last Sunday, noting that the thieves took advantage of the homeowner's absence at work and the presence of his wife and children at school.
Pointing out that the Nairab camp has witnessed a noticeable increase in thefts and robberies over the past years, the latest incident being the theft of Um Mohammed Zidan's house, located on the southern street near the former Al-Tamari Pharmacy, on 24-08-2024 by a fifteen-year-old boy. This incident resulted in moderate injuries to both the son and his mother after the thief stabbed them with a sharp knife, nearly costing the son's life.
Regarding the reasons for the theft incidents, the correspondent said that the deterioration of living conditions and the spread of poverty drive some residents to steal, in addition to the absence of the security forces and the Quds Brigade groups from performing their role in protecting the camp and its residents.
Adding that incidents of theft in the city of Aleppo and its suburbs are less in quantity and quality than in the Nairab camp, due to the control of official security forces and their fulfillment of the required role in maintaining security and pursuing criminals and offenders.
Moreover, in recent times, thefts and robberies have spread in areas controlled by the Syrian government due to the deteriorating economic conditions, the spread of unemployment and drugs, not to mention the security chaos.
