Nairab Camp.. Recording cases of poisoning and diarrhea due to contaminated drinking water.

 Aleppo – Action Group

The Nairab camp in Aleppo recorded a wave of poisoning and diarrhea among some of its residents during the past week due to contaminated drinking water, amid fears of the spread of health epidemics.

The reporter from the Action Group in Aleppo mentioned that the camp witnessed the infection of at least 10 people, most of whom were children, noting that the infected inpiduals suffered from similar symptoms including "diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, abdominal cramps, as well as general fatigue and exhaustion."

Pointing out that the drinking water reaching the homes of the residents has become foul-smelling and tasting, which has forced them to resort to buying bottled water from grocery stores, adding new financial burdens that have weighed heavily on them.

A few days ago, activists from the Nairab camp denied the reports about the contamination of drinking water in several neighborhoods of Aleppo city, including the Nairab camp, Nairab neighborhood, Tal Shaghib, the area behind the railway, Fatima Al-Zahra Mosque, Jibrin, and Al-Malkiya.

This came after an announcement by the Aleppo Water Corporation, which confirmed its commitment to the safety of citizens and that it makes every effort to disinfect and wash its main reservoirs weekly, indicating that there are no cases of contamination in the drinking water.

The Nairab camp suffers from a shortage of water due to continuous power outages, as the majority of families have become completely dependent on electric generators and mobile water tanks, not to mention the lack of all basic services and infrastructure.
