Widespread discontent over the mistreatment by Al-Fouad Company during the distribution of UNRWA financial aid

Action Group | Syria

Many Palestinian families in the camps in Syria expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the poor treatment they received while collecting the financial aid provided by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) through the offices of Al-Fouad Company.

Beneficiaries confirmed that the company's employees prevented them from verifying the received amounts under the pretext of congestion and time constraints, causing a state of anxiety and confusion. A number of parents explained that they were surprised when they checked the amounts, as there was a shortage, in addition to the presence of torn and non-negotiable  banknotes.

This situation has sparked a wave of anger among families who are already facing severe economic pressures, considering that these problems exacerbate their daily suffering. The refugees demanded that UNRWA take responsibility for monitoring the performance of distribution offices and ensuring they receive their entitlements fully and correctly.

The families also called for improving aid distribution mechanisms and allocating a team to address complaints to ensure the process runs transparently and fairly, given the harsh conditions faced by Palestinian families in the camps.
