"Abdul Ghani Shobak," Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Services in the Syrian Interim Government in northern Syria, and "Mohammad Badr," Director of the Palestinian Affairs Directorate at the ministry, held an important meeting with David Carden, Deputy Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the United Nations, and his accompanying delegation, discussing the conditions of Palestinian refugees in northern Syria.
The meeting, held yesterday at the coordination office at the Bab al-Salama crossing, was part of the efforts by the Syrian government and the Palestinian Refugees Directorate to provide the best services to Palestinian refugees residing in northern Syria and to activate the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in providing the necessary humanitarian assistance to them.
During the meeting, the attendees discussed the memorandum presented by the Syrian Interim Government and the Directorate of Palestinian Refugees to Mr. David Carden, which includes a request to activate the role of UNRWA in northern Syria and to assume its responsibilities towards Palestinian refugees, and to provide necessary assistance and services, especially the registration of civil status events as previously practiced.
The UN delegation was also handed a list of previously submitted requests for the care of Palestinian refugees, emphasizing the importance of coordination and providing the necessary assistance in the areas of operation of the Syrian Interim Government in northern Syria.
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the UN delegation for their interest and follow-up on the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Syria, emphasizing the importance of the submitted requests and the follow-up on the recommendations that emerged from the meeting.
