As part of ongoing efforts to improve the legal and living conditions of Palestinian refugees from Syria in Lebanon, a delegation from "Beirut Activists for Palestinians from Syria" met yesterday, Tuesday, with the head of the National Security Branch of the Lebanese General Security (Southern Suburbs and Beirut area sector), in the presence of several officials and relevant parties.

The meeting focused on discussing vital issues affecting the daily lives of displaced Palestinians from Syria, most notably:

The residency issue: The legal and financial burdens imposed on refugees were presented, along with the need to find solutions that alleviate the burden of legal proceedings or the obstacles to their livelihoods related to regularizing their status.

The situation of students: The educational challenges facing Palestinian students from Syria under the current circumstances were reviewed, along with ways to overcome the difficulties hindering their academic progress.

The delegation commended the warm reception and attention shown by the head of the branch, noting that the dialogue was conducted with high transparency and shared responsibility. For its part, the General Security affirmed its commitment to following up on these issues within the available legal frameworks and in coordination with the relevant authorities, ensuring the rule of law while taking into account humanitarian considerations.

At the conclusion of their meeting, the Beirut activists expressed their gratitude to the Director General of Lebanese General Security, the head of the National Security Department in the southern suburbs, and all the officers and officials who facilitated the constructive dialogue. They commended the open-mindedness and serious discussion of issues concerning refugees.

The activists concluded by affirming their continued commitment to pursuing the issues of displaced Palestinians through all legitimate means, working to uphold their dignity and human rights in a way that serves the public interest and preserves the stability of both Lebanese society and the refugee camps.
