New Lebanese circular facilitates the implementation of marriage and birth documents belonging to Palestinian- Syrians

In Lebanon, the General Director of the Directorate of Personal Status, Brigadier-General Elias Khoury, issued a special decree for Palestinian refugees from Syria, to simplify the procedures for the implementation of marriage and birth documents belonging to the Palestinian- Syrian living on the Lebanese territory. The decree holds the number 62/4 issued on 5th October 2017 and condescends on the decree number 43/2 issued on 12th September 2017.

According to the circular, this memorandum came as a result of coordination between the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee and the parties concerned with dealing with the problems faced by Palestinians coming from Syria regarding their legal, economic and social situations in general and the difficulties they encounter in the implementation of the personal status on the Lebanese territory in particular.

The number of Palestinian-Syrian refugees in Lebanon has reached 31 thousand, according to UNRWA’s statistics in December 2016.
