Palestinian-Syrian writer and actor Hani al-Saadi passed away on Friday at the age of 81 after a long struggle with illness, leaving behind a great artistic legacy that enriched Arab drama, especially in the field of screenwriting.

Hani al-Saadi was born in 1944 and began his artistic career in the late 1960s as an actor before turning to writing, where he made a prominent name for himself in the field of television screenwriting. His first acting start was in the movie Gazelle Gate in 1969, alongside Samira Tawfiq, Naji Jabr, and Yassin Baqoush, and he later continued to present acting roles in several dramatic and cinematic works until 2002.

In addition to acting, Al-Saadi excelled in screenwriting, as he presented many prominent dramatic works that achieved wide fame, including A Neighborhood Forgotten by Time, Circle of Fire, Law of the Jungle, Desert Wrath, Al-Kawaser, and The Last Knights, which were distinguished by their exciting narration and solid plot that attracted viewers.

Al-Saadi is known for his skill in writing historical and Bedouin series, as he was able to present works that captured the attention of the Arab audience, due to the exciting drama and strong dramatic conflicts they contained. The series Al-Kawaser was one of his most prominent works that achieved great success in the late nineties, as he embodied the conflict of powers and conspiracies in an exciting style that combined action and drama.

His creativity was not limited to the small screen, but he also wrote for the radio, presenting many perse works that were well received by listeners. He also had his own mark in social drama through works such as Asaad Al-Warraq, Family Experiences, and Abu Al-Banat.

With his passing, the Arab art scene loses one of its pillars in the field of screenwriting, but he will remain present in the memory of Arab drama through his creative legacy that he left for future generations.
